"The Water is Wide" Reflection
1) I really wanted to convey a story to go perfectly with the music. It was a combination of still pictures with effects and film from the actual orchestra. I wanted the beginning to make you think of a person going into war and being excited to fight for his country. Then he gets scared and doesnt know what to do. When the music picks up, he comes out from hiding to see that they have won. The high tempo makes it feel as he is happy that they won and he gets to go back home. In the end he gets to be back home with your famiy.
2) I am really proud of the beginning from 0 to :30 where i think i did a good job mixing in the still photos and the video of the band playing. I was trying to show emotion with the music and pictures and video to make you think that the mood is happy. I do not show a picture of a man going into the army, but the abstract part of the video is your interpretation of my images and video.
3) I think about 50 percent of my video was images and the other 50 percent was film from the band. I chose more brighter colors in my images when it was upbeat and in a good mood. There were darker colors in my pictures where used with the more scary and nerveracking music.
4) I learned that even though you might try to get a specific message across, a completely different one can be interpreted by somebody else. Abstract makes you actually think about the video and the messages that are given off.
5) I learned that you can really use music and clips to get a really good mood across your video. You can make a really good point if you think about what you are writing.
6) The most important contribution that my partner made was the title and credits.
7) The most important contribution i made was actually making the whole video and getting the pictures. I edited all the clips and put the pictures where i had to. I pretty much did everything except for the credits.
Final #6
The only other thing i want to say about this class is that i had a blast in it. We got to experience all aspect of making a video and i got to see what really happened at had fun doing it. I always looked forward to this class and will always remember it. Thank you
Final #5
There is not much that i learned in class that i did not add in someway or another to my videos i made. The most important thing that i got better at though were setting in and out points on clips. It let the clips run very smoothly and made the whole project come together.
Final Reflection :(
Early in the year, I learned the importance of adding text and titles into our videos at different parts. You can see that in my first film, i didnt do this, especially in the scene when the lady is jumping on the horse and my title is a little out of position. On my second project, i learned how to convey a certain meaning or value in the video that we created. A scene that shows this well is in the film called "Cyberbullying", when we give facts about cyberbullying and give the message that it is bad and you shouldnt do it. I learned alot about camera angles and different shot types that you could use to make the video better. Alot of people thought that we had the best video because you really could understand how bad it is to cyberbully someone. At the end of the video, we filmed someone walking through the hallway and it seemed as though the person dissapeared into the light and a lot of people really liked that. In my video "Just Pizza", my group spent a day at my house to film the video. We pan the camera over the pizza to show it is the last peice and we also pan the camera when i defeated john and i was standing on top of him to give a dramatic effect. This project was a blast becase we got to come up with some of the shots as we went along making the video and i think that John, Morgan, and I worked very well together to not only get the message across, but to give it a comic effect as well. It was nice to get compliments from other people that had seen our video and thought it was very good. Through out the year i also became very good at editing videos and adding transitions in between different clips. In my videos "Star Promo", "The Water is Wide", "Jabberwocky" and in of the other videos that i made, you can see how i cut clips and set them correctly. I also added effects between the clips to keep your attention on the video itself. In "The Water is Wide", my video was a combination of still pictures and short clips. The funniest and most random video that we made is our final project. In "A Parody of Stride Gum" we immitate the commercials on the tv and made it even funnier. The idea to the video was thought up in one day and we finished filming the same day too. It was more of a free range project because we didnt have to make a script or a shot list and we just did it. Through the year i learned alot about filming techniques and different was to edit video and pictures to give certain effects and have fun doing it. I am glad that people recognized me talking in the "Star Promos" video that was put on the school webpage for everyone to see.
